Description
PODOGLO™ 100 Dry Suspension contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil IP equivalent to Cefpodoxime 100 mg in each 5 ml of reconstituted suspension. Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat susceptible bacterial infections.
It works by interfering with the formation of the bacterial cell wall, thereby inhibiting the growth of susceptible bacteria. Cefpodoxime may be prescribed for certain respiratory tract, ear, throat, urinary tract, and skin/soft-tissue bacterial infections, depending on the causative organism and clinical assessment.
The product is supplied as a dry powder for oral suspension that is reconstituted before use and contains a flavoured base with Sunset Yellow as the colouring agent. It should be used only as prescribed by a qualified healthcare professional, as it is not effective against viral infections.
Possible Side Effects
PODOGLO™ 100 Dry Suspension (Cefpodoxime Proxetil) is generally well tolerated when used as prescribed. Possible side effects may include:
- Diarrhoea or loose stools
- Nausea or vomiting
- Abdominal pain or stomach discomfort
- Indigestion or bloating
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Skin rash or itching
- Mild elevation of liver enzymes, occasionally
Important: Patients with a history of serious allergy to cephalosporin or penicillin antibiotics should inform their healthcare professional before use.
How to Use
How to use Podoglo – Dry Suspension:
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Podoglo – Dry Syrup should be taken with or after food.
